Affordable Enterprise-Class Storage
The Spectra T120 library is easy to use, manage, and maintain. From initial installation to library maintenance, the T120 simplifies backups. And the T120 has extraordinary flexibility—with it, you can start with the features you need now, and add features and capacity as your data grows and backup requirements change.
Features
The T120 offers you more restful nights. Its installation and configuration are quick and clearly spelled out, you can add capacity when and how you need it, and component redundancy ensures reliability.
Simple Installation and Configuration
Spectra Logic provides excellent documentation and CD-based training, and an intuitive guided configuration process, so installation and configuration are painless. The T120 is compatible with all major backup packages and operating systems and provides a wide choice of connectivity options, from direct-connect Fibre Channel and SCSI drives, to Fibre Channel and Gigabit Ethernet controllers (QIPs). Plus the rack-mount library conforms to your data center layout.
Additional Capacity Always Available
There’s always more data, never less, so keeping up with capacity demands is a serious issue. The T120’s capacity on demand (CoD) feature allows you to simply visit the Spectra Logic Web store and select additional capacity. A key enables more slots, and you instantly have access to additional capacity. Get only what you need, then add more as you need it. This keeps costs in check and extends the life of your library.
Drives for Smaller Backup Windows
If your data growth demands smaller backup windows, you can add drives. T120 drives simply slip into the library. And with the controller option, you can upgrade connectivity just as easily, so that you can take advantages of network upgrades or changes that may help your backups get done. Over time, as new connectivity options, or new tape technologies become available, you can also upgrade your library simply by adding a component.
Seamless Reliability
Reliability is ensured by component redundancy—if one fails, another is right there to take over. The T120 supplies an optional N+1 redundant power supply, along with the controller-connectivity fail-over capabilities. So if one drive fails (and your backup software permits it) then the controller switches the backup to stream to a working drive. Your backup keeps going, even if a drive doesn’t. Plus, the T120 library’s compact, highly dense construction preserves expensive data center space while lowering power usage and cooling costs.
BlueScale Encryption
BlueScale Encryption is the only truly integrated encryption solution for data stored on tape. The T120 lets you seamlessly and affordably add encryption to your backup strategy – with no changes to backup policies and no additional hardware or software. Two major features are:
There is a single point of management for both encryption and data backup, plus the flexibility to manage it all from anywhere with a Web-based Remote Library Controller (RLC), secure through the use of SSL.
The T120 uses the federally approved AES-256 encryption algorithm – the most secure method of encrypting data, and considered unbreakable by the US Government.
